Fritillaria Imperialis Rubra
FRITILLARIA: These members of the lily family have some of the most spectacular flowers. Fritillaria is best planted at the back of a border or among shrubbery. It prefers a deep rich soil and needs moisture all year. Bulbs are fragile, so handle them carefully! Plant this bulb as soon as you obtain it. The roots often start growing inside the packaging and if this happens to you, be very careful when transplanting so that you do not damage these roots. It blooms early in the spring and the flower stem can reach upwards to 3 feet tall. Plant the bulb so the bottom of the bulb is 6 to 8 inches deep and plant a good 10 to 12 inches apart to allow room for the leaves to develop. This bulb will accept full hot sun in the north but will tolerate a little shade. It will do better with a touch of shade protection in more southerly gardens.

How to Grow
Easy to Grow:
1. Select an area with full sun or semi-shade
2. Dig a hole 6 inches (15 cm) deep
3. Place the bulb in the hole, with pointed side up
4. Space bulbs 10 inches (25 cm) apart
5. Cover with soil and water thoroughly
Planting Tips:
Plant in groups of 1 or more, in well-drained soil. Bulbs will benefit from a handful of compost added to the planting holes.
