Border planting – Container planting - Cut Flower - Deer Resistant
Platycodons are long-lived, trouble-free perennials that grow in a wide climate range from zones 3-8. Platycodons are excellent for mixing into flower borders, and most look their best when planted in groups of three or more.
Platycodons thrive in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained and they can easily adapt to grow in either full sun or partial shade. Be patient in the spring, as they are slow to emerge from dormancy.
Division of the platycodon is seldom necessary, and not always very successful because of the carrot-like root.
Plant in groups of 2 or more, in well-drained soil. Perennial will benefit from a handful of compost added to the planting holes. Plants can be easily divided in the fall or early spring of next season. Until planting it's best to store product between 35 F and 50 F degrees.
