Besides being a great garden plant Liatris makes an excellent cut flower as well. It’s a very long blooming perennial, starting in early to mid summer and blooming well into fall. Is hardy as nails, lives in full sun and is excellent for beginners as well as experienced gardeners. Liatris are plants of full hot sunshine and the tuberous roots appreciate a well-drained soil. If you have a very hot dry garden, this is one plant you do not want to be without. Water regularly for the first month or two to assist the plant in getting established and then leave it on its own.
